ARTECH
ARTEC PROJECT is a creative initiative by Girls Tech Ventures designed to blend technology with the arts and culture, empowering young women and girls to explore their cultural identities, express social realities, and shape their future through digital innovation.
The project harnesses the power of emerging technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), digital storytelling, coding, animation, AI-generated art, and interactive installations to reinterpret and amplify traditional art forms, music, poetry, and cultural heritage.
By merging technology and creative expression, this project creates a platform where technology informs and transforms the arts and culture in the following ways.
Preservation & Digitization
Traditional songs, dances, and crafts are preserved using 3D scanning, digital archiving, and interactive media, making cultural knowledge accessible globally and across generations.
Tech-Enhanced Performances
Collaborations between artists and technologists produce live performances that incorporate projection mapping, sound engineering, and wearable tech, pushing the boundaries of traditional theatre and dance.
Augmented Storytelling
Girls use AR/VR to recreate folk tales or social narratives from their communities, giving them a platform to share their stories while learning design and immersive technologies.
Interactive Museums or Pop-ups
Mobile or digital exhibitions that use sensors and interactive tech to engage the public with Rwanda’s (and Africa’s) cultural richness in new, participatory ways.
Cultural Coding Labs
Young women learn to code by creating apps or websites that showcase their heritage, from digital murals to AI-generated poetry in native languages, blending programming skills with cultural pride.
